How have you applied the values of the Graduation Pledge into your career and life?
While attending Humboldt, I fell in love with the redwood region and decided to stay in the community and dedicate my career to defending ancient forests, rivers, and wildlife. I also have a son who I am raising to be conscious of social and environmental issues.

How do you feel about the pledge in today’s world?
It is rewarding to know that I am part of the solution, but I wish we could change the economic machine so that it would give more incentives to dedicate time and energy to improve environmental and social conditions.

What is something you miss about Humboldt or your time as a student?
Having so many professors, mentors, and resources available to me. Campus was a gorgeous and fun place with a great atmosphere for inspiration.

Did you use any specific resources to find your current job?
Real world job experience, familiarity with the local community and connections, and skills developed from previous internships, volunteering, and activist opportunities.

Do you have any advice for future Graduate Pledgers?
Do what you are passionate about and volunteer; it's a great way to get in touch with people who are actually in the field.

Comments or anything else you would like to say about the Graduation Pledge?
Thank you Humboldt for creating the pledge to get people to think about how they can apply what they have learned to making the world a better place :)!
